Welcome back to the final months of high school!

During the following weeks we will be reading the novel Girl missing by Sophie McKenzie.

You will practise: reading- listening comprehension, writing and speaking + get some cultural knowledge. 

As an introduction to the novel, please look closely at the first page of the following internet site

This means that if you take the number of people living in the whole of the district of Leksand you have to multiply it by over 50  to get the number of children missing EVERY YEAR in the world!

HOW will we work with this novel?

Monday: Read novel during class. Homework: reading. 
Thursday: Do excersises. Write answers/discuss with a friend every second week. 

Sometimes we will have words for homework.
When you have read half of the novel you will write a text + when you have finished the novel you will write a test which includes various open questions about the novel + some grammar.

Försök variera språket. Visa att du kan uttrycka dig på olika sätt. Undvika slang/svärord.

Introduktion = Vad kommer din text att handla om?

2 - 3 stycken där du diskuterar ditt/dina ämnen. Byt stycke när du byter ämne. Hoppa då över en rad, som på bilden nedan.

Avslutande stycke där du "syr ihop påsen" avslutar texten med en slutsats. (To sum this up.... , All in all ...., In conclusion..., So, I do think/believe...)

You have THREE different topics to choose from. Your own opinion should be clear in your text.

Your text should have a title and 3-4 paragraphs.

An introduction, a body (1-2 paragraphs where you discuss the questions below) + a conclusion. 

Introduction
You write a few sentences and present what you are going to write about in your text. 

Body (discuss the following question)

* What effects do you think media representation has on young people? Give examples!
* Does the media affect how you or/and your friends dress/look/behave? Give examples.
* What do you think is meant by "You can't be what you can not see"? Is there a way to change this?

2. Write a review of the film Perks of being a wallflower 

Your review should include:
The title:
“Perks of being a Wallflower – a film review”

An introduction: (first paragraph)
Describe the plot and the main characters in the film
Describe the most important things that happen in the film and present the most important characters. 

Second paragraph:
Choose one scene that you really like or that is important to the film. Describe what happens in that scene and why it is important or why you like it. 

Third paragraph:
In her UN-speech Emma Watson said that men are also stuck in the male stereotypes. What does she mean? Can you give examples from this film?

Final paragraph:
A conclusion where you write your own thoughts about the film. Explain why you like it or didn’t like it.
